A Disneybounder's Guide to Styling Your Mouse Ears

By Kayla, Maker and founder, Ears of Joy. Written from the studio, by the person who makes them.

Mouse ears can be loud and expressive, or they can be subtle and complementary. The key is to learn how to match your ears to your style, so you can always feel confident and in character with yourself.

Pick your central piece

For me, my ears are almost always the piece I start with, but for you, it may be a dress, a top, or an accessory. No matter where you start, the process will be more or less the same, as you begin envisioning a theme or style you want to embody in the park.

Choosing your ears

Some people like bold patterns and colors, while others prefer soft, daintier prints or details that can be paired with many looks. Wherever you lie on the spectrum, there are ears for you. Always choose something that suits your personality and preferences. After all, the goal is to be comfortable and true to yourself. There is no right or wrong.

If you already have an outfit planned, take a look at the colors, patterns, or theme. Try matching your ears to your outfit or looking for a secondary color in your outfit that you can pull out more with the ears of your choice.

Let a neutral outfit carry a bold pair

If your ears are your centerpiece, consider a calmer outfit. Creams, whites, and even denims give space for your bold ears to do the talking.

The reverse works, too! A quiet, simple pair of ears works as a finishing touch to a busier outfit.

Consider your photos

Do you have photo locations in mind? Is your outfit themed to a land, ride, character, or attraction you plan to take pictures with? Consider which colors and patterns will complement your environment, as well as suit your face and coloring best in harsh daylight. Remember that what you feel good in will age better than whatever is on trend this season.

Ready when you are
